We were watching a movie, or Himself was, and I was knitting and sort of listening. Suddenly, he says, 'What kind of shoes is that guy wearing?"
I looked up, said, "Tennie-runners." and went back to knitting.
Himself says, "So why does it sound like he's wearing horse shoes?"
*Boggles*
Please, movie people, think. It is possible. Trainers squeak, or make no sound at all. They do not clomp.

I don't watch a lot of 'reality tv' except for Dog. So ... my mind is totally boggled.
A friend said I should watch Toddlers and Tiras. Then I saw a piece on the news that blew me away.
This Mom gives her kid something she calls 'go-go juice' before she goes on stage. It's 2/3 Mountain Dew 1/3 Red Bull! What kind of person gives a six year old that stuff.
I'm old, out weigh that kid by 120 or more, and I can't drink that much plain MD without going postal. Holy Crap on a mop stick! What is going on in her mind?

I want something nice to eat. I've been cooking all week and I don't want to today. But I'm hungry and I want ... soup, and a sandwich. And french fries (chips). I want tea and scones. I just really want something nice that I didn't cook myself. And don't say Himself will cook, because he won't.
*sigh* He might take me out to a restaurant, but I doubt it. It's cold as hell and supposed to snow. So, night out. No. Don't think so.
Oh, well. I'll have to cook.
And I just posted the next Bounty Hunters on Dreamwidth. The cross post didn't seem to work so here's a down and dirty link. http://yanagi-wa.dreamwidth.org/100041.html

I love board games. I really do. I can play a simple game of Shut The Box with real pleasure. Backgammon? Love it. Chess. Totally hopeless but fair at checkers. My Mom and I gathered, over the years, a very nice collection of games, including Majhong.
Himself hates board games. Says they're called 'bored' for a reason. *Pouts* He won't even try to play any of them with me. And no one else in the family likes them either. I only keep the games because Mom and I bought them together.
Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.

Himself wants the bookcase from my studio. One of them, at any rate. I don't mind, really, I don't. What I do mind is the chaos that moving it means. I have to move my table, my ... every damn thing. I counted the tables, supports and other bits and came up with four tables, three taborets, two other bookcases and several tubs. Yes, my studio is cramped, crowded and messy.
But, once the bookcase is out. I'll be able to rearrange everything and get more room than just the space the case takes up. Now, if someone wanted my PC and the desk it's on, that would be a plus. But they're not free, I want $300 dollars for both. No chance. Oh, well.
So tommorrow is not going to be fun. Take off books, carry down stairs, put books away somewhere not on that case. move case. Eeekk! Advil anyone?

My DIL and I went to Quincy today. I needed to upgrade my OS, badly.
Now, I am computer savy but this is one of the things I just hate to do. I put it off and put it off. So ... I decided to just pay to have it done. Good thing too. My battery has been acting odd off and on for a while. It needed to be replaced before it did something nasty to the rest of the computer.
So I am now $280 poorer, have a shiny new battery and my OS is upgraded. From Puma(?) to Lion. That's like three grades. Yikes.
I also went to the yarn shop to spend my gift certificate. And add $50 to it. *snicker* I promised Himself that I'd lay off a bit. Until I get it down to less than six projects. I really don't blame him. I mean, why get so far behind that the sweater is three or four years out of style. (Not that I'm really all that bad about picking really faddy sorts of things anyway.)
But ... I really, really hate the new conformation on my email account. The way I used to be is logical, the new way is columnar and not what I like. But I can't figure out how to change it back. *sulks* Why did the IT change it?

It turned out a bit fuzzy in the scan, sorry.

I finally finished my NaNo story. With a great big dangling sort of cliff hangery thing. It's the set up for next year. OMG!
So, now to clean it up, get it betaed and what not.
Next. 893 and finish my Justice Bane that's been hanging around for over a year. *sigh*

I just finished knitting the last of six swatches with these needles. I don't like them. I knitted a 6x6 swatch with #5, 6, 7, 9, and 11. The cables are very thick and sticky making it hard to move the stitches along them smoothly. The size 5,6, and 7 needles are bendy. The rest are hollow plastic and I'll bet you money I'll split them within six months. I also didn't like the way the cable attached to the needle, you just stick them in the hole in the end and turn a quarter turn. I pulled the needles off with 3 of the 5 sizes. They were also very blunt.
I'm a 'blind' knitter. I can knit and watch tv or even read, if the pattern is simple enough. These needles are too blunt to allow me to do this. Not good.
All in all, the needles were 'plasticy' and awkward. Also, the storage leaves kinks in the cables that I couldn't get out even by dipping them in hot water.
Glad I got them at Amazon. I've already got the return authorization. Thank goodness. At $56 they were a bit more expensive than I think they were worth. [I'll probably save up to get Addi lace instead.]

I bought myself a counting bracelet also called an abacabraclet (who came up with that one?)
It's really nice. It has two strands of beads with a ring around them. There's 9 beads on each strand, in this case two different colors. Every time I finish a row I push one of the colored beads through the ring. When I've moved all nine, I push them back and push a bead of the other color through the ring. It will allow counting 99 rows. I really like it. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to make one. (I just know I'll either loose or break it, since I like it so much.)

We got a really good buy on a huge roast for todays traditional dinner. So ... that means left overs.
I'm making stew tomorrow for dinner. Yum. It's just the left over eye of round cut into bite size pieces along with the left over juices, potatoes, carrots, onions and celery. I think I have some peas (frozen, I hate canned) Just cook all the veggies in the juices until they're about half way done, add the beef and cook until done, thicken then serve with rolls.
Damn, now I'm hungry.

I was looking at the sock I'm knitting and I found a raging error in a cable... half way down the leg.
This means I have to frog half the leg and redo it. There's no way I can let this error go. A braided cable with a back cross? No.
Damn it.
I have to find a piece of something the make a lifeline with, then pick up every stitch on the leg, rip back to the mistake and reknit about four inches. Insert keyboard mash here. Grrrrr!!!

I find this one here and there. I snitched it from a forum.
The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a crib house whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to best them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary. --James Nicoll, rasseft.

I have never liked poetry, except for The Odyssey, the Iliad and a few other such epics.
A reviewer said that she liked my stories except they seemed a bit wordy, she liked poetry as it was a story stripped down to essentials.
This is when I realized why I don't like poetry. Poetry is a story stripped down to its poor, bare skeleton and sent out to play in traffic.
If you like poetry, good for you. *hugs*
